Modern Law - SCC briefing
On the latest podcast of Modern Law, Nadia Effendi of BLG briefs us on the latest from the Supreme Court of Canada.

As listeners know, the Modern Law podcast is primarily about the law's ability to keep pace with change, which naturally tends to steer us toward topics related to technology's impact on the law. But innovations in law can be social in nature, too, as our courts grapple with changing mores and times.
So, with that in mind, we're introducing a new regular feature in our Modern Law series – a Supreme Court Briefing – to keep listeners apprised of the court's work.
To guide us today, we've invited Nadia Effendi to discuss the appointment of Michelle O'Bonsawin to the top court, the court's recent hearings in Quebec City, and what's on her radar in the coming weeks. Effendi is a partner at BLG, based out of Toronto and Ottawa, and the chair of the firm's Appellate Advocacy and Public Law Group. She sits on the CBA's Federal Courts Bench and Bar Liaison Committee. Before joining BLG, Effendi served as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada to then-Justice Michel Bastarache, and has been counsel before the Supreme Court on several occasions.
