The CBA wants YOU – to join its board of directors!
Regular CBA members who want to contribute to the evolution of a more member-centric CBA are encouraged to apply for election to its Board of Directors. Deadline is February 17, 2017.
The CBA wants to create a board that reflects the diversity of the legal profession with a mix of practice types, experience, skills, geography and more.
“Moving towards a leaner and inclusive model allows the CBA to select members based on the skills and attributes needed to grow and become a more effective and efficient organization” explains CBA vice-president Kerry L. Simmons, Q.C. “This is an exciting time to join the Board. I encourage anyone who wants to lead a strong professional association to apply.”
The new Board will be composed of one member from each province and territory, plus the President. Current CBA President René Basque, who is from New Brunswick, and Treasurer Dean Scaletta of Manitoba have been asked to stay on for one more year to help with the transition. CBA members from all other jurisdictions are invited to apply.

If the Board of Directors is not for you, please consider the array of other opportunities to get involved at both the branch and national level, such as Sections in your areas of practice and committees looking at issues facing the legal profession and the CBA.
